Biblical Age of the Earth

Share and Comment

Biblical Age Earth – What is the Biblical Age of the Earth? How does anyone know? What data suggests or confirms dates?

There is a great debate between evolutionary thinkers and creationists, as to the age of the earth.

If you believe in creation, you can find data to estimate the age at less than 10,000 years old based on births and deaths revealed in the Bible.

If you believe in an explosion resulting in order and evolution, the age is over 4 billion years by most estimates. In this case, you would have to argue there was death before sin, and most scientists deny the biblical flood.

The argument that the earth is billions of years old became popular within the last 200 years. Prior to the early 17th century and late 18th century most people believed the biblical age of the earth was about 6,000 years, as recorded in the Bible. They took God’s word as truth.

Ray Campbell used research data and biblical genealogy data, cleverly input into a survey application, to produce this biblical timeline from Adam to Jesus, from who’s birth we know fairly well how long it’s been to today. Therefore it us useful evidence to argue a biblical age of the earth.

Regardless of arguments, I believe, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1

Doug Coe passed into the presence of the Lord February 21st, 2017. It was one year to the day when his good friend Dr. Billy Graham (11/7/18 – 2/21/2018) joined him.
10/20/28 – 2/21/2017

Doug Coe

Doug preached The Gospel, Jesus Christ.

Doug Coe spoke to leaders all over the world for decades and said the same thing, which is condensed into about 4 hours here.

Listen now:

Believe God

Only let your life be as it become the Gospel of Christ

Holiness, The Foundation and Family History

What is the chief aim of follower of Christ?

Most recognized as the head of the Presidential Prayer Breakfast or later known as the National Prayer Breakfast, held the first Thursday morning in February at the Washington DC Hilton, Doug disliked media attention and titles.

Doug was known as the world’s best friend to many leaders and celebrities across the globe and every US President since Eisenhower.

To me he was Uncle Doug and I’m eternally grateful for his friendship and influence in my life and family. He married my wife and I in an unforgettable ceremony that he reminded me of each year we met for decades.

Rarely did Uncle Doug speak to large crowds although he was often asked. Whenever he spoke to groups or individuals, his message was Jesus of Nazareth.

Doug Coe
Preach Jesus and if necessary use words – St. Francis of Assisi

Doug’s message was the same whoever he met.

The work of God is to believe. John 6:29

Love the Lord with your heart, mind, soul and strength. Luke 10:27

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest. Luke 10:2

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; Philippians 1:29

The Holy Spirit guides to help each believer in their walk with Jesus Christ.

Bob Dylan

Caribbean Winds

Share and Comment

Caribbean Winds (Copyright © 1985 by Special Rider Music) was written by Bob Dylan at the end of a Dylan Period, of which we’ve experienced many variations since 1981 as Bob has evolved and re-emerged album after album. Caribbean Wind was written by Bob Dylan after the end of his ’79 Tour, and prior to his ’80 Tour which began September 11, 1980.

Dylan had spent some time sailing in the Bahamas and Caribbean on a yacht named The Water Pearl. Bob said in a concert, he started writing it in St. Vincent and woke up from a strange dream in the hot sun, thinking about living with somebody for all the wrong reasons.

Bob Dylan Caribbean Wind cover

Drum track created in Garageband. Rhythm guitar Epiphone Dot 6 string, clean, one take vocals, duplicated and panned.

Caribbean Winds was ignored by most and appreciated by few fans; When it was released in 1981, current fans failed to recognized the significance in the songs lyrics. Some were attracted to intro, others to it’s rap like phrasing (that wasn’t a word for music then). Folks were confused by Bob’s genres and couldn’t pigeonhole him. Many fans moved on to various rock or country artists in the 80’s. All of this left Caribbean Winds, one of his greatest compositions, relatively undiscovered.

Slow Train had been released in 1979 followed by Saved. The release of Bob Dylan’s 1979 LP Slow Train Coming was a huge landmark event. The album climbed to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Dylan had recently met Jesus. Crowds were showing up stunned to hear all gospel and no hits. He did show up with a passionate voice and requisite awesome band that kept many coming back for another listen.

Dylan performed the first take of Caribbean Wind in the studio in October 1980.

So much great work has been written and recorded by Bob Dylan before and since 1981, obscuring Caribbean Winds in the shadows of poetic genius.

“The powerful operations of God’s spirit, quickening or reviving the heart towards God, are compared to the blowing of the wind“. John 3:8
You can’t see the wind, only the effects.

“People can learn everything about me through my songs, if they know where to look. They can just juxtapose them with certain other songs and draw a clear picture” Bob Dylan

Caribbean Winds Lyrics

She was the rose of Sharon from paradise lost (G BM)

From the city of seven hills near the place of the cross. (Em C)

I was playin’ a show in Miami, in the theater of divine comedy. (G BM Em D C)

Told about Jesus, told about the rain (G BM)

She told me ’bout the jungle where her brothers were slain (Em C)

By the man who invented iron and disappeared so mysteriously (G BM Em D C)

Was she a child or an angel? Did we go too far? (G BM)

Were we sniperbait? Did we follow a star (Em C)

Through the hole in the wall to where the long arm of the law cannot reach? (G BM Em D C)

Could I have been used and played as a pawn? (G BM)

It certainly was possible as the gay night wore on (Em C)

When men bathed in perfume and practiced the hopes of free speech. (G BM Em D C)

And them Caribbean winds still blow from Nassau to Mexico (C D G C)

Fanning the flames in the furnace of desire (G C D)

And them distant ships of liberty on ’em iron waves so bold and free (C D G C)

Bringing everything that’s near to me nearer to the fire. (G C D G)

Sea breeze blowin’, there’s a hellhound loose (G BM)

Redeemed men who have escaped from the noose (Em C)

Preaching faith and salvation, waitin’ on the night to arrive. (G BM Em D C)

He was well connected but her heart was a snare (G BM)

And she had left him to die in there (Em C)

He was goin’ down slow, just barely stayin’ alive. (G BM Em D C)

The cry of the peacock, flies buzz in my head (G BM)

Ceiling fan broken, there’s a heat in my bed (Em C)

Street band playing “Nearer My God to Thee.” (G BM Em D C)

We met at the station where the mission bells ring (G BM)

She said, “I know what you’re thinkin’, but there ain’t a thing (Em C)

You can do about it, so let us just agree to agree.” (G BM Em D C)

Atlantic City by the cold grey sea (G BM)

Hear a voice crying “Daddy”, I always think it’s for me,  (Em C)

But it’s only the silence in the buttermilk hills that call. (G BM Em D C)

Every new messenger brings in evil report (G BM)

‘Bout armies on the march and time that is short (Em C)

An’ famines and earthquakes and train wrecks and the tearin’ down of the walls. (G BM Em D C)

Did you ever have a dream that you couldn’t explain?

Did you ever meet your accusers face to face in the rain?  (Em C)

She had chrome brown eyes that I won’t forget as long as she’s gone. (G BM Em D C)

I see the screws breakin’ loose, see the devil poundin’ on tin

I see a house in the country bein’ torn from within. (Em C)

I can hear my ancestors callin’ from the land far beyond. (G BM Em D C)

Air Force One

The President parked Air Force One behind my office

President George W. Bush came to Greensboro October 18, 2006 and parked Air Force One behind my office, at Greensboro Airport.

I was working at Select Homes, Inc. in Greensboro on I-40 next to Hwy 68 N exit, just minutes from GSO Airport. The highway is a busy thoroughfare with thousands of cars passing daily. The office was a garage attached to a large white two-story model home. It was a noisy, windy location because of the I-40 highway traffic, plus consistent aircraft traffic overhead.

Two Story Modular Home
Two-Story Display Model I-40 Model Center Greensboro Airport Exit

When I realized it had gotten very quiet and still, I went upstairs with my camera and looked out the window. No traffic. Zero. Never experienced that before. I felt anxious for a moment, then I remembered, President Bush was in town today. I waited and watched for the Presidential motorcade. It appeared from the West and cascaded down the highway in 3 lanes, shifting dark SUV’s back and forth like a shell game with the Commander in Chief, flanked by an armored vehicle that looked somewhat like a road construction vehicle, but with obvious anti-aggression capabilities. The most powerful man in the World and me, right here on I-40, no one else for 100’s of yards, I thought. But, just like most people, the President didn’t stop and drove out of sight East on I-40 as I held my camera looking out the window.

I had hesitated to open the window and lean out with any kind of object in my hand for fear of taking a 50 cal to the forehead. Times were threatening, just 5 years since 911. As the posted threat levels increased, government authorities tolerance decreased.

Air Force One must be parked at GSO airport, I thought. Maybe I could get a picture. I drove up Gallimore Dairy Rd. to Market St. and turned left. I could see AF1 was surrounded by tractor trailers like a circle of wagons in a western wagon train. I knew The Secret Service and local police maintain a strict security perimeter wherever AF1 is parked. I pulled off Market St. and drove on the field as close to the fence as I could, feeling a bit apprehensive. I stood in the door well of my van and snapped a couple pictures. I then drove around to the west side of Air Force One off Airport Rd. and snapped another picture, again standing in the door well. As I slid back down into my seat this time, I noticed two dark SUV’s approaching. I was hoping for a selfie (term didn’t exist yet) with occupants, but they didn’t make contact. I never saw a person, only dark glass. They stopped until I exited the field.

Air Force One Greensboro, NC

Two Guilford County Sheriff’s Deputies rolled in behind me as I drove back out Gallimore Dairy Rd and onto I-40 E. They seemed to be escorting me as I drove to NC Hwy 220 S. They turned off at the Level Cross Exit in Randolph County.

I read on (now WFMY news2) the next day, that one of the President’s destinations was Victory Junction, a camp for children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses located in Randleman, North Carolina.

President Bush had also visited Falkener Elementary school, named for a civil rights pioneer, and had lunch at Stameys Barbecue, where he visited with patrons, across from Greensboro Coliseum.

No Child Left Behind

At the school, President Bush addressed a selected group. He spoke about “No Child Left Behind”, a Federal Act of 2001, at the time, the most recent iteration of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965.

Read George W. Bush remarks:  No Child Left Behind & American Education: Address in North Carolina Greensboro, North Carolina October 18, 2006 at Faulkner school.
